Democratic citizens between global demands, local stakes,
and the Internet of things
A pluridisciplinary group of renowned scholars from Europe and Australia will be meeting in Mainz Sept. 21-23 for intensive discussions of topical issues in democratic theory.
Participants will contribute perspectives from philosophy, political science, sociology, law and economics. The conference will focus on current tensions between human rights and citizens' rights, global and local political demands, as well as chances and dangers of technological innovations for the future development of democratic systems.
The conference, which is organized by Prof. Zimmerling, has been made possible by generous financial support from JGU, "Freunde der Universität", the Political Theory unit of the Dept. of Political Science, as well as the home universities of several external participants.
(Participation: only by invitation.)
